We’re excited to share the news about our 2025 season!

This year, we continue to champion deaf talent and tell powerful stories through our classic bilingual style - using British Sign Language (BSL), spoken English and captions on stage.

Our 2025 season focuses on the voices, experiences and creativity of deaf women, with two exciting productions touring across the UK. Both shows are directed by our Artistic Director, Paula Garfield.

First, we’re bringing back The Vagina Monologues by V (formerly Eve Ensler) for a brand-new UK tour. You may remember this bold, moving show from our sold-out charity performance at Hackney Empire in 2023. Now, it returns in a reimagined way!

The show features a cast of 10 deaf women and non-binary people and is based on real stories from interviews with over 100 women around the world. It’s funny, emotional and powerful – a celebration of womanhood and identity. The tour starts at Exeter Northcott Theatre, and will also visit Crucible Theatre, Sheffield and The Rep, Birmingham.

Then, this autumn, we’ll present Barrier(s), a new play written by deaf playwright Eloise Pennycott. The story follows a relationship between a deaf woman and a hearing woman as they try to connect in a world that keeps putting up barriers. It’s an honest and warm play about love, communication and being understood.

Barrier(s) was first seen at the National Theatre as part of their New Views programme and received great feedback for its powerful storytelling. This new version will open at The Rep, Birmingham, before touring to HOME, Manchester and Camden People’s Theatre in London, where it will be part of the first season from new Artistic Director Rio Matchett.

Our Artistic Director Paula Garfield said:

“This season is all about the stories of deaf women – bold, beautiful and full of heart. Whether it’s a well-known classic told in BSL or a brand new play by a deaf writer, we’re proud to share these stories with audiences across the UK. Please come and be part of it.”

Join us for our 2025 season – a celebration of love, identity and the strength of deaf voices on stage.
