Deafinitely Theatre is looking to cast four deaf actors for our new production of Bull, written by Mike Bartlett and directed by Paula Garfield. Bull explores workplace tension and human struggles for survival so we need strong and skilled performers.

There are four roles available: Isobel, Tony, Thomas, and Carter.   

  • Isobel
    Playing age: 20s - 30s
    Isobel is observant, smart and careful. She watches and listens more than she speaks. The actor should be able to show thoughts and feelings clearly, even when being quiet or still. This role needs subtle acting and emotional control. 

  • Tony
    Playing age: 20s - 30s
    Tony is confident and likes to be in control. He speaks quickly and enjoys pushing others. The actor should be comfortable taking the lead in scenes and using strong body language. There should be moments where we see insecurity underneath his tough behaviour. 

  • Thomas
    Playing age: 20s - 30s
    Thomas is sensitive, nervous and want to fit in. He is sensitive and easily hurt by others. The actor must be open, truthful and brave and not afraid to show vulnerability. This role asks for strong emotional range and courage. And the capacity to draw the audience’s empathy. 

  • Carter
    Playing age: 30s - 40s
    Carter is controlled, confident and authoritative. He controls situations without shouting; his power comes from calm assurance. The actor should have a strong presence and be comfortable playing authority. This role needs control, clarity and quiet power.

We're looking for actors who identify as deafare fluent in BSL, are able to learn all lines confidentlybeing comfortable and confident with performing on professional stage.

We welcome applications from deaf performers from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. If you meet most of the criteria and are interested in a role, we encourage you to apply.

Audition will be taking place on Saturday 9th May in London.

If you are successful, you will be participating in Research & Development in June and rehearsals in August, as well as touring in September and October.
